Gout Treatment With Natural Home Remedies - A Better Option
You can experience a life free from gout using gout treatment. There is a viable alternative to medicines that are suited for long-term care. Gout medicines are better as a standby option for emergencies whilst focus can be made to using natural or home based solutions. Dependence on pharmaceutical medicines can be decreased gradually whilst using remedies for gout until there is no more need to use the medicines regularly.
These medicines have some form of negative side effects when taken for treatment over a period of time. This has led many to a better option, which is gout home treatment.
Medicines that medical researchers have developed can be broken into three main streams. These are anti-inflammatory drugs, lowering uric acid drugs and uricosuric agents which work to lower uric acid levels in the body and thereby prevent future attacks.
All these drugs have side effects such as ulcers, bleeding, blood pressure, heart problems, liver and kidney diseases, acne,
bone problems, skin rashes, headaches and stomach pains.
Using A Systematic Approach
A systematic approach is advised when using gout home treatment options. Medical researchers also take a systematic approach in developing their drug regimen. The gout treatment approach includes lowering uric acid levels by consuming foods that are lower in purine levels. Secondly regular soft forms of exercise should be undertaken to encourage the excretion of uric acids from the body by release of fluids from the body.
Important Gout Home Treatment
Some foods such as dairy foods and vegetables are high in purines but have been found by the Medical Research Team led by Dr. H. Choi of Masachusetts General Hospital, Gary Curhan of Harvard School of Public Health and others in 2004, to be beneficial for the body. This places some importance of including them in any gout treatment program. In fact, the team found that increasing dairy intake amongst research participants, actually decreased incidence of gout.
In the same study where some 46,000 patients were tested over a period of many years, they tested new patients with a daily serving of meat and found that there was a 21 percent increase in the risk of gout whilst an additional weekly serving of seafood was connected to a 7 percent increase of risk. For those already suffering from gout, the risk was even greater. Therefore sufferers should consume less meat and increase consumption of vegetables and dairy as gout treatment.
The same research found that intake of 1500mg/day of vitamin C decreases risk by 45 percent, compared to 250mg/day. However, this has to be balanced with vitamin tablet toxicity cautions. For the overweight or obese, especially men, the extra weight increases risk three fold. Again, soft exercise is good as part of gout relief and is beneficial in decreasing risk of gout attacks.
